Diagnostics

Diamond Leader Diagnostics

Clarity Before Improvement.

Effort matters. But effort guided by an incomplete interpretation can deepen the very conditions it intends to improve.

Institutions may treat a recurring system pattern as an individual failure, attempt to develop capacities that existing conditions continue to suppress, or introduce a new solution before understanding why previous efforts struggled.

Diamond Leader Diagnostics develop structured insight before decisions about improvement are made.

Find the Work Before Choosing the Solution

The Precision Leadership Framework distinguishes among three connected responsibilities:

Formation — Developing capacities that are not yet sufficiently formed

Correction — Addressing patterns and conditions that continue to distort good work

Creation — Building what does not yet exist but is required for a worthy future

The Diagnostic Suite

Precision Orientation Diagnostic (POD)

What kind of work does this situation require?

A preliminary sensemaking diagnostic for leaders and institutions confronting a problem, transition, or opportunity without yet knowing where to begin.

It helps distinguish what may require Formation, Correction, Creation, or a more integrated response before a solution is selected.

C4 Diagnostic (C4D)

Why does this pattern keep returning?

The C4 Diagnostic examines recurring dysfunction through four forces that can gain strength within human systems: Chaos, Commerce, Command, and Control.

It looks beyond visible symptoms to examine recurring friction, distorted incentives, communication failures, leadership dependency, invisible work, misplaced authority, and conditions that encourage silence or premature blame.

Centerpoint Discovery Diagnostic (CDA)

What capacities are becoming available—and where is further development required?

The Centerpoint Discovery Diagnostic examines leadership through the Seven Pillars of the Centerpoint Method and the Four Essential Outcomes of Deliberate, Holistic, Adaptive, and Strategic leadership.

It develops insight into how people interpret reality, carry responsibility, make decisions, reflect and learn, align intention with action, and respond under pressure or changing conditions.

Four Harmonies Diagnostic (4HD)

Are Purpose, Process, People, and Performance reinforcing one another?

The Four Harmonies Diagnostic examines whether the essential dimensions of an institution are sufficiently aligned to support the future it is trying to create.

It is designed for organizations preparing to build, redesign, grow, or strengthen a system—and seeking greater clarity about what meaningful creation will require.

Insight at Every Level

Diamond Leader Diagnostics can be used with:

  • Individuals

  • Classes and developmental cohorts

  • Student, resident, faculty, or professional groups

  • Teams and departments

  • Leadership groups and boards

  • Stakeholder groups

  • Entire institutions and organizational systems

Participation may begin with one person or extend across multiple roles, departments, and organizational levels.

Individuals may receive confidential Precision Insight Reports identifying strengths, challenges, developmental patterns, and questions for continued reflection or practice.

When a diagnostic is administered across a class, cohort, team, department, or institution, results can be aggregated into a group or Stakeholder Insight Report. These reports reveal shared strengths, recurring patterns, and meaningful differences in how organizational reality is experienced.

Confidentiality and Anonymity

Individual findings remain confidential unless participants have explicitly agreed to another arrangement.

Group reporting uses appropriate aggregation and minimum-group safeguards to protect anonymity and reduce the risk that participants can be identified through their responses.

The purpose is to create the conditions for honest participation and useful insight—not to rank people, expose individuals, or locate blame without context.

Tailored Diagnostic Inquiry

Not every consequential question fits neatly within an established instrument.

When necessary, the Institute can tailor the application of an existing diagnostic or create a focused diagnostic inquiry around a defined problem of practice, population, institutional context, or developmental objective.

Tailored work retains the same commitments to conceptual rigor, responsible interpretation, participant confidentiality, and actionable insight.

What Follows the Diagnostic

A diagnostic may lead to an individual or group debrief, lecture, workshop, cohort program, or advisory engagement.

Further work should follow only when the findings justify it.

Diamond Leader Diagnostics are designed to support leadership development and organizational learning. They do not diagnose clinical or psychological conditions, rank employees, or assess competence within a participant’s professional field.

How To Get Started

Bring us the problem, opportunity, transition, or question you are trying to understand. We will help identify the most responsible place to begin—whether through an established diagnostic, a tailored inquiry, or advisory.
